The Battery is a members-only social tech club funded privately by owners Michael and Xochi Birch. Inspired by the village pubs in London where they met, Michael and Xochi wanted to recreate an exclusive culture where diverse communities come together and exchange ideas and inspiration. While The Battery itself was under construction, its web presence needed to be built in parallel.
We took design cues from the building, including interior design aesthetics, and applied core branding elements from the printed goods to translate into functional web standards. We had the pleasure to work along side the dedicated development team at Monkey Inferno and the branding team at mm-sf for this project.
CREATING THE BLUEPRINTS
The web aesthetics needed to reflect the established print branding elements. We took the standards and built a web guideline outlining the use of colors, typefaces, web branding elements, and how images are to be presented.
SEEKING INSPIRATION FROM THE SOURCE
When you have questions, you ask. When you need inspiration, you seek it. We were fortunate enough to be given a hardhat tour opportunity to seek it from the source, The Battery.
