Barry Lai has had a penchant for the arts since birth. As a child, crayons and walls used to be his vice. It seems as if his inspiration now is derived from music, environments, friends and spontaneous ripples in his life.
Over the past nine years, Barry has built Design Rehab to become a full service creative hub with a client list that boast global lifestyle brands like Nike, Scion and Red Bull to billion dollar consumer companies like Chase, Microsoft and SanDisk. The client list ranges from boutique businesses to corporate giants. With thorough client studies, defined goals and innate creativity, Design Rehab consistently serves as the visual catalyst for brands to speak a language understood by their audience. As Barry’s brain child, Design Rehab is here to provide creative therapy in Art Direction, Brand Engineering, Concept Articulation, and User Interface in web or mobile.

Design Rehab also produces interviews that are conducted to highlight and provide insight to creative community leaders. Under the moniker, The Healthy Hustle, interviews are curated by area codes. This serves as a creative outlet to invigorate creativity in the community and himself. The freshman installment pays tribute to San Jose, California, the Valley of the Silicon and where the Sharks swim. The current installment takes place in beautiful San Francisco where Design Rehab is based.
CURRENT PROJECT: FIRST ARTICLE | a clothier breathing Barry’s childhood passion for fashion
Birthed with the name PLSTK, Barry also works along side this design consultancy, sharing the same love for design and fashion. The lovechild – a clothier the team endearingly coins First Article, an apparel line that inherits old world traditions with new world interpretations. Stay tuned as the line is slated to be released later in 2012.
